How to bid in a $EBAY auction

Article

How it works

  1. Buy $EBAY tokens on Jupiter, Raydium, or any Solana DEX. The amount of SOL you spend on the swap counts as your bid.
  2. If your bid clears the minimum, you become the high bidder. A 30 second countdown starts. Survive it and you win the whole pot.
  3. Someone else bids? They take the throne and the timer resets to 30 seconds. Now you have to outlast them.
  4. Timer hits zero with you on top? You win the pot in SOL. New round opens after a 60-second cooldown.

The rules at a glance

Auction timer30 seconds. Resets to 30 on every qualifying bid.
Minimum bidA flat 3% of the current pot. Never compared to the king's last bid. If the pot is 100 SOL, you need at least 3 SOL to dethrone. If it's 1000 SOL, you need 30 SOL.
WinnerThe last person to place a qualifying bid when the timer hits zero.
PrizeWhatever's in the pot at that moment, paid in SOL.
Cooldown60 seconds of pause between rounds.
Pot rolloverAny SOL not paid out (and any fees collected during cooldown) carries into the next round's starting pot.

A few things that catch people off guard

You don't have to outbid the king

The minimum bid is a flat 3% of the pot. You're not trying to beat the king's number. You're trying to be the last qualifying bidder. A bid for 3% of the pot can dethrone someone who bid much more.

Aggregators (Jupiter, etc.) work fine

Any swap that routes through the official $EBAY Meteora pool counts. Jupiter routing through our pool? Counts. Someone making a parallel forked pool to dodge the tax? Doesn't count. The pot only grows from real fees on our pool, and bids only register from swaps that touch it.

First bid wins by default in slow rounds

If you're the first person to bid in a fresh round and nobody else shows up in the next 30 seconds, you win the whole rolled over pot for whatever your minimum bid was. This is rare in practice once there's an audience, but it's a real outcome. Start watching early in case nobody else does.

Late bids are valid bids

A bid placed at 0.5 seconds resets the clock to 30. There's no closing window. Until the timer hits zero, the round is open.

Strategy

  • Snipe late. Bidding at T-2 catches anyone who's not paying attention.
  • Stakes scale with the pot. The 3% threshold is constant, but the SOL number grows with the pot. Late rounds with a fat pot mean dethrone bids cost real money. Fewer challengers, faster endings.
  • Watch the bid history. Frequent bidders means an active round. If only one wallet has bid, you might be all that's between them and a free win.
